Conversations designed to lead somewhere.
ICWL is designed to turn cross-cultural connection into useful learning, shared understanding and, where appropriate, practical collaboration.
Learn. Act. Impact.
Every exchange should create new perspective, useful knowledge or a meaningful next step for the members involved.
Not activity for activity’s sake.
ICWL is intended to be practical and action-oriented, rather than simply another international discussion group.
Members should leave an exchange with stronger understanding, useful connections or ideas they can responsibly adapt within their own country or community.
Listen and understand.
Explore another member’s experience, local context and leadership challenge with curiosity and respect.
Exchange and adapt.
Identify practices, principles or relationships that may be useful when carefully adapted to another context.
Carry insight forward.
Where appropriate, translate learning into stronger decisions, mentoring, collaboration or community action.
Share the lesson behind the result.
The objective is not to copy programs blindly. It is to understand the principles behind an approach, the evidence supporting it and what may need to change in another environment.
Challenge
What question, problem or opportunity were you trying to address?
Approach
What strategy, practice or action was used in response?
Evidence
What worked, what did not and what did the experience reveal?
Adaptation
What principle could another country or community thoughtfully adapt?
Real questions from real leadership experience.

Experiences of building businesses, accessing opportunity and navigating financial or institutional barriers.
Education & Workforce Development
How education, skills, training and professional networks shape opportunity across countries.

The first year begins with relationship-building before progressing toward deeper knowledge exchange and possible collaborative initiatives.
Build Trust
Introductions, leadership stories, cultural perspectives, shared values and expectations for participation.
Exchange Knowledge
Practice-sharing around leadership questions, opportunities and lessons from different countries.
Develop Collaboration
Identify shared interests and consider smaller working conversations where a useful opportunity emerges.
Reflect & Shape Next Steps
Review learning, assess value for members and determine the next stage of the community’s development.
Women’s Wisdom Across Cultures.
The ToR identifies a future annual knowledge product and possible policy recommendations. These should be developed only after the founding community has established trust, a shared process and approved editorial standards.
One voice. One country. Shared learning.
- A practice or approach from a member’s country.
- A leadership lesson drawn from lived experience.
- Cultural context that helps others understand the issue.
- A carefully considered recommendation for future action.
The measure is what members can carry forward.
The purpose is not attendance or a full calendar. It is useful understanding, stronger relationships and thoughtful opportunities for follow-through.
Useful Insight
Ideas, practices and perspectives that members can understand or adapt within their own environments.
Stronger Connections
Trusted international relationships that may support mentoring, exchange and thoughtful introductions.
Meaningful Follow-Through
Where appropriate, shared priorities and responsible next steps that emerge from the community itself.
Bring your experience into the conversation.
The strength of ICWL depends on women who are ready to share honestly, listen carefully and contribute what they know.
